Cyclone Christine Wreaks Havoc on Shed in the North West of Western Australia
February 26, 2014Tropical Cyclone Christine hit North West Western Australia late December 2013.Initially rated a Category 3 cyclone, Christine was less severe once it made landfall in the Roebourne area with wind speeds recorded of 139km/h.
The north west of Western Australia has the highest wind region rating of Region D. It is common to design for a site wind speed of 273km/h.
For a shed to experience a catastrophic collapse at reported wind speeds of 139 km/h points to the inadequacy of the design.
Remember if you are building in Region C or D that you need to ensure that the building design is correctly engineered to your specific location. A good place to start is with a ShedSafe Accredited Dealer.
